The BenchNorth Business Evolution Engine

Stop re-figuring your business every time it changes.

New system, new process, new team, new location. Every change gets mapped from scratch, training gets guessed at, and people feel it harder than they should. The Engine gives your business one map, and every change runs on it.

Why

Change isn't the problem. Starting over every time is.

Business change is hard for growing companies because nothing carries over from one change to the next. Every new system, reorg or process gets re-figured from scratch, training is guessed at, and the change lands harder on people than it should.

01

Every project starts from a blank page

A new system, a reorg or a new service line, and someone rebuilds the same spreadsheets, process maps and requirements all over again.

02

Training is a guess

Nobody knows how much a change will ask of each team until go-live, when the front line finds out the hard way.

03

Change lands harder than it should

Too many changes hit the same people in the same week. Adoption stalls, customers notice, and the investment underdelivers.

What if every change started from a map you already had, and you knew how hard it would land before it shipped?

How

One map of the business. Every change runs on it.

The Engine works by giving your business one plain-English capability map and connecting every system, customer need, team and user story to it, so each change starts from what you already know.

Spotlight · Change Absorption

Know how hard a change will land before it lands.

Change Absorption is BenchNorth's method for scoring how hard each change will land on people and teams before it ships. Every user story gets a quick 1-5 training-effort score, and scores roll up by role into an impact budget for each release, so no team gets buried.

  • Tag once, use everywhere. Each story is tagged by capability, role, system, channel and release.
  • Estimate, then validate. Analysts score it; your training lead confirms it.
  • Set an impact budget. For example, under 30 minutes of new training per role is a minor release.
  • Get better every cycle. Original vs approved scores sharpen future estimates, with a built-in recalibration week after every four weeks of delivery.

FAQ

Questions business owners ask about the Engine.

Short, direct answers about what the BenchNorth Business Evolution Engine is, how Change Absorption works, and how to get started.

What is the BenchNorth Business Evolution Engine?

The BenchNorth Business Evolution Engine is a way to plan and deliver business change from one map. It starts with a plain-English capability map of what your business does, connects your systems, customer needs, teams and user stories to that map, and scores how hard each change will land on people before it ships.

What is Change Absorption?

Change Absorption is BenchNorth's method for measuring how hard a change will land on people and teams before it goes live. Each user story gets a 1-5 training-effort score that an analyst estimates and a training lead validates, and scores roll up by role into an impact budget so no team gets more change than it can absorb in one release.

What is a business capability map?

A business capability map, or Business Capability Architecture (BCA), is a plain-English list of everything a business does, from winning customers to running payroll, organized into levels with a permanent ID for each capability. Plans, systems, budgets and user stories can all point to the same IDs, so nothing gets re-figured from scratch.

What industries does the Engine work for?

The Engine works across industries. BenchNorth tailors the capability map, Platform Atlas and change scoring to financial and lending firms, professional services, healthcare practices, construction and trades, manufacturing and distribution, retail and hospitality, nonprofits and churches, and real estate, and maps new industries on request.

How is the Engine delivered?

There are five ways to work with BenchNorth: buy a single asset such as a capability map or story library; get the Transformation Accelerator Pack, a tailored bundle with a kickoff; have BenchNorth stand up the engine in your own Azure DevOps or Jira and Confluence; lease the engine with BenchNorth hosting and running it; or partner with BenchNorth on co-branded or new industry versions.

How long does it take to get started?

It depends on your business and what you are changing. We scope it in a first conversation, then agree on a clear first step before any work starts.

How does pricing work?

Pricing is on request. It depends on which option you choose and how much tailoring your business needs, and we confirm it after a first conversation about your goals.

Do I need Azure DevOps or Jira to use it?

No. Story libraries import into Azure DevOps or Jira if you already use them. If you don't, BenchNorth can stand up a workspace for you or run the engine for you under a lease.
